Stacain Wind Farm
The Stacain wind farm would be located on land to the northwest of Lochan Shira reservoir, next to Sròn Mòr hydroelectric power station, and approximately 5½ km south of Dalmally. It will be almost 2km from the nearest residential property.

The proposed development is for up to 14 wind turbines, each rated at 3 MW, giving a total of 42 MW. This would provide clean, green electricity to meet the equivalent needs of over 23,400 homes. The wind farm would prevent approximately 40,800 tonnes of harmful carbon dioxide being discharged into the atmosphere every year, helping in the fight against global warming. This reduction in emissions would essentially be equivalent to removing over 9,100 cars from the road.

Local residents will have the opportunity to invest in the project. Also, a proportion of the revenue from the wind cluster is usually offered to establish a Trust Fund for local community service programmes and initiatives. How the Trust Fund is used will be for the local community to decide.

We have conducted extensive consultations with the Argyll and Bute Council, Scottish Natural Heritage and local residents regarding the Stacain Wind Farm. We submitted a planning application for the wind farm to the Council in April 2005 and a decision on the application is expected to be reached in 2007.

Ridgewind’s partner in the project is Wind Prospect, a leading independent renewable energy developer, constructor and operator. Wind Prospect's address is 7 Berkeley Square, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 1HG.
