Palmers Hollow Wind Farm
The proposed wind farm would be located to the North East of Bottesford. The farm would consist of eight turbines, each approximately 60m high, with 35m blades. There will also be access tracks, an anemometer mast, a small control building and a temporary construction compound. Each year these turbines will generate enough electricity to power between 6000 – 8000 homes while avoiding significant carbon dioxide emissions.

The wind farm would be expected to have an operational life of 25 years. After this time the development would be de-commissioned in order to return the site to its original state.

A proportion of the revenue from the wind turbines, during the 25 years would be offered to the community to set up a Trust Fund for local community services, programs and initiatives. It is estimated that the earnings of the Trust Fund would be between £24,000-£36,000 per annum for the lifetime of the wind farm, depending on the turbine selection. The Fund will be managed by a committee of local residents.

The site is currently undergoing various environmental assessments. The results of these studies will be submitted to Melton Borough Council with a planning application for the wind farm.
