Nutsgrove Wind Farm
The proposed wind farm would be located on land to the north of Thorney Toll, approximately 5 km north east of Thorney near Peterborough. The cluster will consist of 7 wind turbines, with a capacity of 2 MW each. The energy generated from the wind farm would have the potential to provide renewable electricity to approximately 7,800 homes, whilst eliminating roughly 13,600 tonnes per year of harmful carbon dioxide currently produced by conventional power stations. This reduction in emissions would essentially be equivalent to removing 3,000 cars from the road.

A proportion of the revenue from the wind cluster would be offered to establish a Trust Fund for local community service programmes and initiatives. The amount offered will be based on the yearly energy output achieved during the lifetime of the development - estimated to be around 25 years. How the Trust Fund is used will be for the local community to decide.

The planning application for the Nutsgrove Wind Farm was submitted in July 2006 to the Peterborough planning committee. It is expected that a decision will be reached on the application in 2007.
