Montreathmont Moor Wind Farm
The proposed wind farm would be located at Montreathmont Moor, approximately 4 km to the north of Friockheim in central Angus, Scotland. The installed capacity of the site will be approximately 22 MW. The energy generated from the wind farm would have the potential to provide renewable electricity to approximately 12,300 homes, whilst eliminating roughly 21,300 tonnes per year of harmful carbon dioxide currently produced by conventional power stations. This reduction in emissions would essentially be equivalent to removing over 4,800 cars from the road.

Local residents will have the opportunity to invest in the project. Also, a proportion of the revenue from the wind cluster is usually offered to establish a Trust Fund for local community service programmes and initiatives. How the Trust Fund is used will be for the local community to decide.

The planning application for the Montreathmont Moor Wind Farm was submitted in January 2005 to the Angus Council planning committee. It is expected that a decision on the application will be reached in 2007.

Ridgewind’s partner in the project is Wind Prospect, a leading independent renewable energy developer, constructor and operator. Wind Prospect's address is 7 Berkeley Square, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 1HG.
